ABOUT US

How many photographers are included in the package?

We’re a husband and wife team. I (Nina) am the main photographer and Herno, my husband is the videographer or my second photographer (if he’s doing video, I have another pro second shooter with me). 

So, all of our packages include a professional second shooter for free as we feel it’s necessary for us to deliver the highest quality product. 

What equipment do you use?

At the moment my second photographer and I shoot with Canon 5D IV and Canon EOS R bodies. We only shoot with prime lenses – mainly with a 35mm or 50mm, but we have quite a variety to choose from.

Describe your style.

Documentary. Emotional. Raw.

I tell your story in the most beautiful and authentic way possible to make it last for generations (imagine showing your wedding story to your grandchildren – how cool?). My work is warm, free, ‘moody’ and real. I love movement, truth and super in-love people.

Do you only do weddings?

Mainly weddings, elopements and vow renewals. I also do adventurous couple/ engagement shoots! If you have a really cool concept and would like me to shoot it for you, you can share your idea and we’ll work something out.

How can we book you to capture our wedding story?

First off, congratulations on deciding to tie the knot, this is huge! 

To book us, you can start by completing my contact form, telling me more about yourselves, your wedding (especially date + location) and the things that’s important to you. If we’re a good match and I’m available on your date, I’ll send you my packages and we’ll take it from there!

What do you need from us to secure our date?

Most of the time, a 50% booking deposit, signed contract and the completed questionnaire ( I will send you a Booking Package as soon as you’re ready for it!). 

Do you offer different packages for elopements or vow renewals? 

We love elopements and vow renewals so yes, let me know and I’ll see to it 🙂 

How far in advance should we book? 

As far in advance as possible, actually – we take bookings 14 months in advance. Be sure to enquire about 6-12 months before your wedding as we get booked up quite fast when our bookings open. Super short notice is also great for elopements and other shoots. 

BEFORE THE WEDDING

Do you travel for weddings? 

We love to travel for destination weddings! We’re based in Gauteng for now, but we travel for free in a radium of 80km from there. If your location is more than two hours from where we’re based, please remember to add a little extra to your budget for one night’s accommodation n a B&B for the two of us. If your location is more than 3-4 hours away, please budget a little extra for two night’s accommodation. If your wedding is more than 4 hours away, please remember to budget a bit extra for two flights (where applicable), two night’s accommodation at a B&B and a rental car. 

Do you give RAWS?

Noop! I don’t, because editing is half the process that goes into images and without this huge step, the photos are only halfway done.

 I promise to never leave photos out that you want/need – I won’t let you miss out on your memories!

What do we wear for engagement photos?

The loungiest lounge wear! Actually, whatever you feel comfortable in – be yourselves! I will send you some inspirational Pinterest boards you can have a look at. Sticking to basic neutrals is always best, but mail me if you would like me to help you choose your outfit!

What if we need to cancel/ reschedule our wedding?

Outside of a global pandemic, this is the rule: If you’ve already put a deposit down on a date and then want/have to move/cancel it, the deposit is non-refundable and a new deposit will have to be made in order to hold a new date.

 I am not doing this to suck money from you, but because I close that date off for any other weddings and because I am only taking on a limited amount of weddings per year to stay exclusive.

What if we need to reschedule our engagement/ bridal couple shoot due to weather?

We can reschedule if the weather is really bad (like, ruin-my-camera-bad), but some of my favourite shoots ever have been in wind/rain/crazy cold!

Do you need to see the venue/location before the wedding?

Nope, luckily not! If we haven’t been to the venue, we’ll arrive earlier on the day to scout but we are used to shoot at new venues & locations. 

What do you need from us before our wedding?

A list of family photos, a schedule (which I have checked so we can ensure you get the most out of your day and photos) and a list of all your vendors will be great!

How can we contact you if we need anything?

Feel free to email or call me if you need me! We can also arrange a coffee/ Skype meeting. I am not available on Whatsapp so if it’s urgent, please call me.

Do you work with any videographers?

I prefer to work with my husband from Other Half Motion Films, hahaha, but yes, any professional videographers. I would definitely recommend you book someone with a style similar to ours to get the most out of your photos, though. Ask me for references!

What if I’m very insecure about something? Or what if there’s any very specific photos I want?

Tell me EVERYTHING! I’m your new bestie now. I can only capture what I see and what I’m aware of, so if there’s anything specific you want/ don’t want, just let me know before your big day so I can pay extra attention to it. We don’t judge.

AT THE WEDDING

What can we as a couple do to ensure an epic wedding?

Personalise your wedding as much as possible beforehand by supporting local dress designers rather than commercial bridal stores, harvest some of your own flowers/foilage, by writing your own vows/ writing letters to each other and making your own traditions or bringing in some of your personal favourite elements! 

I would recommend working with professional wedding vendors beforehand who can take as much stress off you as possible ( get a professional coordinator, it helps!) but on the day, you should just enjoy every moment! Don’t sweat the small stuff, trust the professionals and experience every moment with your new husband/wife and your loved ones! 

As long as you give all the love you have, we’ll be super trigger happy! 

At what time do you start?

We’ll work on a program with you or your coordinator beforehand and send the final version to you before the wedding. We usually start around 12:00 or 13:00 for an afternoon wedding, depending on the coverage included in your package, but that’s super flexible.

Do you work overtime?

If you (or your MC) ask us to, we’ll work overtime and bill you afterwards. We’ll always check with your MC first to make the most out of the hours you have paid for, though.

What do you wear to weddings?

A jean and tekke. No, I’m joking. Sometimes we wear classy af sneakers so we can easily move around, but other than that we always wear dark, professional attire.

AFTER THE WEDDING

Are my photos going to look like the ones on your blog?

Kind of but also not really, haha. I remain quite consistent with my style (warm, moody, documentary) so your photos will look similar in style to my other work, but your photos will be as unique as your story. Every wedding has its own vibe and I’m only documenting what’s already happening.

Can you photoshop us to look skinnier/have clear skin?

I want to focus on making you look beautiful, not unrealistic. So yes, I clear up skin and remove distractions but I don’t ‘Photoshop’ your bodies to look different. 

How do I know that my photos are safe and won’t get lost?

Both us shoot with professional cameras and we separate the cards as soon as we’re on our way home. When we’re home, we start backing up onto two external hard drives to minimise the risk of losing photos. Unfortunately we can never eliminate the risk of losing photos, but rest assured that we do our absolute best to keep your photos safe.

How long does it take to get our photos? And how do you give it to us?

8 – 12 weeks (delivery of albums excluded) for wedding photos, 6 weeks for engagement photos.

Usually closer to 8 weeks but never longer than 12 weeks – we’ll contact you as soon as we’re done with your online gallery. We’ll also send you a USB with all your photos + albums (if there’s any included in your package) later on, within 8 weeks.

How does the album work? Can we choose the photos?

Of course! After I sent you your online wedding gallery, you can select (by favouriting, the star) 80 of your favourites (if there’s more, I’ll just send you a separate quote on the extra spreads) within two months. You can also choose the colour + the title of your album. From there, I do the design and send it in for printing.
