Kathryn + Peter | Eloping at Kisawa Sanctuary

Arriving at Kisawa Sanctuary, the world below slowly softened into sand, sea, and calm. Benguerra Island felt instantly removed from everything else; a place where time stretches, and nothing asks to be rushed. When we arrived, Kathryn and Peter were already immersed in their own quiet rhythm, writing vows separately while vinyl played softly in the background. The music— The Slickers— became the understated heartbeat of the day.

There was no rush, no performance. Just a series of moments that felt honest and grounded. They got ready together, and together made their way toward the beach.

On a private stretch of sand, they exchanged vows shaped by the place and the stillness around them, with the ocean as their witness. As the light softened, a traditional dhow waited offshore, carrying them into the glow of sunset. Locals passed by while fishing, silhouettes moving quietly across the horizon— a fleeting moment that felt perfectly in sync.

There was no grand finale. No crowd. Just movement, light, water, and the feeling that this was exactly how it was meant to be.
A celebration that trusted simplicity, and found its beauty there.
